EDEN FEST 2010 - a great success

KMRM celebrated Harvest Festival; on June 25th 2010 at Integrated Indian School, Abbassiya with variety entertainment programs was indeed a festival for the whole Malankarites in Kuwait.
Spiritual Director, Fr. George Kottapuram inaugurated the festival by cutting ribbon, Mr. O. M Mathew, Harvest Festival Convener welcomed all gathered, Presidential address by Mr. C.A Joy emphasized the vision of KMRM and expressed his gratitude to the community members for their support in the current year Charity Program “Kalalaya Santhwana Phase III”. Ahmadi Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Andrew Francis, OFM Cap delivered felicitation speech, Harvest Festival Joint Convener Mr. Jacob Varghees (Benoy) proposed the Vote of Thanks in the opening ceremony.

The Toy Store and Game stall, introduced for the first time by the Catechism with the guidelines of Mr. Rajan Thotathil, was a novel attraction as well as a service to the Children gathered. Catechism Children participated enthusiastically by managing their booths. Pickle stall organized by Friends of Mary was another major attraction. The booths for games, snacks and drinks were enjoyed by many, especially the youngsters.

The ‘Tintu mon’s Nadan Thattukada’ organized by the Yuvajyothi had to be extended to the evening hours due to popular demand. The ‘Food stalls’ operated by the different Area Prayer Groups served authentic homemade Indian dishes through out the festival. KMRM website stall organized by web Master Mr. Rajan Mathew and Web Administrator Mr. Binu K. Varghese was visited by many members and they got opportunity to update their personal data and suggestions. Two Rabbits were auctioned off during the festival. Several other items donated by our members and sponsors were also auctioned off.

Birthday of our Patron His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin (Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait) was celebrated at 7:00 pm by cutting the cake in presence of over 2000 crowds. Rev. Fr. J. Albert Saveriraj, Vicar of St. Daniel Comboni Parish, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and all KMRM former Presidents were present. The Members of the Kuwait Malankara Rite Movement express our sincere gratitude to His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin who blessed with his presence & message. KMRM Secretary, Mr. Thomaskutty welcomed Bishop and General Prayer Coordinator Mr. George Thomas (Raju) delivered vote of Thanks.

A souvenir has been released during the occasion by Rev. Fr. George Kottapuram along with Rev. Fr. Albert Saveriraj and given the 1st copy to Mr. Issac Kadakampally. Mr. Kuruvilla Thomas was the Souvenir Convenor.

The major attraction of the event was Ganamela by Asianet Idea Star Singer “Mr. Jins & Munch Jr. Star Singer “Kum: Amirtha” conducted in two Segments, 1st at 1:00pm and jumbo ganamela from 07:15 pm to 10:00 pm. A Musical Fusion by Mr. Manoj Mavelikara & team was another attraction of the event. Artists from our own community and other well known artist from various communities in Kuwait entertained the audience with dances, music and Magic Show. Rev. Fr . Joseph Palatty honoured the artists.

The fantastic raffle organized by KMRM for the fundraising of current year Charity Program was an amazing success. Members raised the fund - all through their hard work. These wonderful people not only donated all the items for prizes in the raffle, but also poured all their effort into encouraging people to buy the tickets and support the needy. Raffle draw was conducted by Mr. Shaji Varghees (Treasurer), and Advocate Shibu Jacob

Efforts taken by Mr. K.O John, Mr. Alexander Thangalathil, Mr. Cherian Vengal Iype (Reception), Mr. Jacob Thomas Kadakampally, Mr. M. J. John (Publicity), Mr. Thomas Varghese - Monachen (Chairty), Mr. George Thomas - Raju (Food Stall), Mr. Thomas Mamootil (Media), Mr. Jimmy Abraham (Yuvajyothi), Mr. Liju Abraham (Catechism), Mrs. Valsamma George (Friends of Mary), Mr. Libu John (Photography), Mr. Benoy Abraham (Volunteers), Mr. Rana Varghese (Light & Sound) ... are remarkable. Program concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the Program Joint Convenor Mr. Sajan Mulamootil.

Mr. Babuji Bathery, Program General Convener & KMRM Vice President was the Master of Ceremonies of this wonderful event.
