The grand finale of ‘KKMA-Tiffany Children’s Drawing Contest 2010’ organized by Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) was held at Kuwait Indian School here on Friday January 15. The contest open to all students of Indian schools in Kuwait had four categories - Primary School (Class 1 to IV), Upper Primary School (Class V to VII), Secondary School (Class VIII to Class X), and Senior Secondary School (Class XI and Class XII). 1,000 participants were shortlisted from the first round to take part in the finals. First round had 3,000 participants from 18 Indian schools in Kuwait. Participants were asked to draw pictures on different subjects depending on their age groups. The primary students were asked to draw the picture of a beautiful garden, while the upper primary students had to paint a scene from their village. The secondary students were given a topic of a clean city while the senior secondary students had to illustrate their dream of a peaceful world. Sageer Trikarpur, chairman, KKMA said that the objective of the contest is to promote non-violence and peace as well as create awareness among children regarding these concepts. The contest also aimed at recognizing the creative talent of children and understanding their vision and spontaneous suggestions on various worldly concepts. The parents actively participated in creating a giant public drawing canvas organized by KKMA. Artist Srinivasan P G inaugurated the canvas by drawing an imagination of world peace which was continued by several prominent personalities, including director of Kuwait Indian School Hiyam Ibrahim Al Hutaimi, Tiffany marketing manager Sunny, Faisal Salahuddin, Istekhar Ahmed Khan, UAE Exchange Business Development manager Ramdas, managing director of Apsara Bazaar Mahmood Abdulla, and manager Behbahani Rental Car Helen Pinto. Trikarpur, vice chairman Akbar Siddique, chief finance officer Ali Matara, president NA Muneer and treasurer Sayad Rafeek also joined to ready the canvas. Various entertainment programmes were conducted throughout the event and the winners were rewarded with special gifts from Tiffany. The quiz conducted by S M Basheer received overwhelming response from the public. The programme committee consisted of chairman A P Abdul Salam , vice chairman BM Iqbal, Ibrahim Kunnil, Abdul Fathah Thayyil, K Basheer, Hamza Payyanur, Shukoor Maniyanodi, Muneer Kodi, Rayin Kutty, Ummer and C K Sathar among others.
